Welcome To the NEOA

We are the Northeast Basketball Officials Association, one of nine different groups across the state of North Carolina serving our high school student athletes.

Below, you will find a checklist of the preseason requirements necessary for eligibility to work any high school games. All officials must register and complete the pre-season requirements for eligibility to work NCHSAA assignments. 

Requirements are as follows: 

Complete NCHSAA Registration and Payment 

1. Personal Information 
2. Background check authorization – Two responses required. 
3. General Registration – “NO” if wanting to be an eligible NCHSAA official. 
4. NEOA Regional Association Registration with Eddie Buffaloe 
5. Payment (WAIVED for new officials, see below)) 

Requirements for Eligibility Once Registered: 

1. Background Check 
2. NEOA Clinics Attendance must have six (6) total. 
3. NEOA Association Meeting Attendance one (1)  
4. NEOA Scrimmages Minimum two (2) 
5. NCHSAA State Rules Clinic must attend one (1) 
6. NFHS Concussion Course 
7. NFHS Sport Exam  

*  75+ Regular Season Eligible 

*  80+ Post-Season Eligible
